The Russian military convoy approached about 55 kilometres to the Georgian capital Tbilisi. This is the deepest penetration of Russian troops in Georgia since the beginning of the conflict, which erupted last week.
The convoy (17 APCs, two hundred Russian soldiers) stopped at the village Igojeti. The military convoy went from the Georgian city of Gori, which occupies the Russian military, which lies about 25 kilometers away from the separatist South Ossetia, and were to be found near the main road leading to Tbilisi. Convoy support three Russian attack helicopters. There are snipers, grenade launchers and military ambulance.
The aim and task of a military convoy is unknown. Georgian Prime Minister on Thursday already suggested that the movement of Russian troops within Georgia aims to scare Georgian civilians.
Moscow has on Tuesday announced that Georgia stop all military action. Only apparently "provides" the Georgian military facilities and abandoned military warehouses.
On Thursday, Georgian and Western sources indicated that Russian soldiers were in Gori, in the Black Sea port of Poti and in west-georgian the city of Zugdidi, which lies close to another separatist region, Abkhazia.
